Luxembourg holds a legal framework and regime which is inline with Shari'ah principles. In 1983, it was the chosen domicile of the first Shari’ah compliant insurance company in Europe while in 2002 the Luxembourg Stock Exchange was also the first European stock exchange to enter the Sukuk market, and 16 Sukuk issues have since then been listed and traded on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
The event is hosted by UniCredit Luxembourg, a bank specialized in the offer of tailored first-class products and services to the Ultra High Net Worth Individuals.
Speakers include finance minister Luc Frieden and Governor of Luxembourg Central Bank Mr. Mersch.
In addition Mr. Jacques Santer, former Prime Minister of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and former President of the European Commission, will deliver the opening remarks.
The event is supported by the Italian embassy.
