Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, estimated to have 1.6 billion followers in 2010, and 2.2 billion in 2030 as per the projections made by the Pew Research Center for its report issued in January 2011. In Europe, the Muslim community represents 6% of the population in 2010 (44.1 Million people) and it should represent 8% in 2030 (58.2 Million people).
The term -Halal is applied to various aspects of the Muslim community life. Halal is used to describe anything permissible / lawful under Islam, in contrast to -Haram which is anything forbidden.
As per The International Halal Integrity Alliance, Halal food must be clean and pure and made in accordance with the Islamic guidelines.  (source)

EU move to label Halal and kosher meat rejected, for nowThe controversial move by European Council to label Halal and kosher meat without the use of stunning, which would effectively relegate them as second class meats, has been excluded from the final draft for now.


The version of the regulation which the Council has sent back to the European Parliament for consideration does not include Amendment 205, the clause which would have required that all meat and meat products slaughtered by halal and shechita methods, be pejoratively labeled.

RUSSIA - Russia’s first Halal park opens in Tatarstan

Russias first Halal park opens in Tatarstan
The Kul Sharif mosque in Kazan. Kazan, the capital city of Tatarstan Republic, is one of the largest and most important Russian financial and cultural centers.
Businessman Linar Yakupov, who started the Halal Industrial Park, told RFE/RL that his facility will produce 30 halal products, including meat, spices, cookies, flour, and other types of nonprocessed food made according to Islamic rules and regulations.
