RUSSIA - Rustam Minnikhanov negotiates use of Islamic banking in project financing in Tatarstan

(Kazan, December 6, Tatar-inform). Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has during a working visit to Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, held meetings.

Rustam Minnikhanov is on a two-day working visit to Abu Dhabi (4-5 December).

Tatarstan President negotiated investments in the Tatarstan economy with the Al Hilal bank’s CEO Mohammed Jamil Berro and the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank’s President Tirad Mahmoud.


Besides, the aide to Tatarstan President Iskander Muflikhanov said, Rustam Minnikhanov has discussed issues related to promoting Islamic banking in Russia and its regions with one of the leading Islamic financing experts Dr. Hussein Hamed Hasan.

The consulting company Dar AI Sharia Legal & Financial Consultancy LLC’s managing director Dr. Hussein Hamed Hasan had on November 24 visited Kazan and held a meeting with Tatarstan Prime Minister, during which the parties had exchanged views on the possible application of Islamic financing instruments in the Tatarstan’s economy.

During the meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov on Sunday, Dr. Hussein Hamed Hasan returned to the topic of Islamic banking’s participation in funding some investment projects implemented in Tatarstan, the Tatarstan President’s press service reports.
