MALTA - World Islamic Finance Institute established in Malta

timesofmalta.com - Some of the world’s leading financial, accounting and legal institutions have signed an in-principle agreement to establish the World Islamic Finance Institute.
Based in Malta with a satellite office in Dubai, the world class institute aims to promote the cause of genuine Islamic finance globally, develop the infrastructure for Islamic finance by interacting with governments, agencies and regulators, hold and support conferences on relevant market issues and promulgate standardisation of governing principles. MALTA - EVENTS - Islamic finance can alleviate suffering in Med, conference told

timesofmalta.com - By its very nature, Islamic finance can help alleviate suffering in the Mediterranean and particularly in North Africa, Malta Institute of Management president Reuben Buttigieg told last week’s Mediterranean Islamic Finance Conference.
This is the time to show that the values we preach come to reality in a region that is begging for such opportunity
“Microfinance will be desperately needed in the region and we must find ways to encourage various Islamic finance institutions to ensure that the necessary financing is available,” Mr Buttigieg said. (source)

The conference will bring to the fold key speakers including highly renowned international scholars to discuss practical issues and opportunities. The conference will shed further light on the opportunities Malta is already benefiting from and the opportunities that exist which may lead Malta as being the Islamic centre  in the Mediterranean amongst which the area of re-insurance. MIM will once again also hold the Mediterranean Awards for Global Excellence in Islamic Finance to be held under the distinguished patronage of the president of Malta.

MALTA - World Islamic Finance Institute established

The founding members of the World Islamic Finance Institute signed an in-principle agreement to form the institute, which will serve as a non-governmental organisation with its headquarters in Malta and an office in Dubai, UAE.
