www.theislamicglobe.com - Local press is reporting that Birmingham-based Islamic bank, the Islamic Bank of Britain is expanding into the northern English county of Yorkshire.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Imran Pasha, IBB’s head of retail said that the bank was predicting a tenfold increase in its customer base within four years. (source)
He also said the bank was attracting non-Muslim customers.
IBB opened its first outlet,an agency based in a Dewsbury,West Yorkshire real estate
agency at the weekend. There is a large Muslim population in the urban areas of West Yorkshire.
The Dewsbury agency was IBB’s eighth outlet. IBB is focused on the UK retail market.
In March last year Qatar International Islamic Bank took a controlling stake in IBB after an £8.1m ($13.3m) annual loss [see Issue 6]. IBB did not respond to a request for comment.
