LUXEMBOURG - LSF hosts Islamic Finance Course in January 2011

The Luxembourg School of Finance (LSF) of the University of Luxembourg, is pleased to announce an eight-day Executive Course in Islamic Finance in Luxembourg in collaboration with the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), to be held from 10 to 19 January 2011. 

The Luxembourg School of Finance (LSF) of the University of Luxembourg, is pleased to announce an eight-day Executive Course in Islamic Finance in Luxembourg in collaboration with the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), to be held from 10 to 19 January 2011. 

Faculty from the INCEIF, a renowned centre for graduate studies in Islamic Finance based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will teach the course, called “Islamic Finance – Principles, Theory and Applied Practices.“  “We are very pleased to join forces with a recognised leader in Islamic Finance education to provide a university level course in this important and growing area of finance,” stated Professor Christian Wolff, Director of the LSF.  “The LSF will continue to seek opportunities to provide life-long education at this level that is relevant to the Luxembourg financial centre, in our mission to support its continuing development.” 

The course is open to Islamic finance professionals of the Luxembourg financial centre, academics, and others engaged in this growing area of international finance.  In four separate two-day modules, the Course reviews the underlying principles and theory of Islamic Finance, and examines the applied practice of Islamic Finance in the international business and regulatory environment of banking and capital markets today.  The modules will cover Principles of Islamic Economics, Shariah and Islamic Financial Transactions, Islamic Banking and Islamic Capital Markets.  The course will take place from 10 – 19 January, 2011 at the Luxembourg School of Finance, 2B rue Albert Borschette in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. The course will be followed by a seminar on Islamic Investment Funds on 20 January 2011, which will be open to the general public.  

Places in the Course are limited. Registration and payment deadline is 30 November 2010.  The detailed programme is available on the LSF website ( www.lsf.lu ).  The course fee is 2’875€ (VAT incl.), course materials included. The Luxembourg School of Finance is part of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg.  Founded in 2003, it offers a Master of Science in Banking and Finance, available in both full-time and part-time study programmes.  There are currently over 80 students participating in the Master’s programme, from over 20 countries.
