NETHERLANDS - EVENTS - Islamic Finance Symposium Nov 17, 2010 - Tilburg

The hottest topic in the Islamic intellectual world in the West is whether the financial meltdown and Wall Street collapse of the last year would not have happened if we had an Islamic system of finance instead of 20th Century capitalism.

The field of Islamic Finance is underexposed in the Western Society. We simply don’t know enough about it. It’s a field that needs more attention and research. With the upcoming globalization an unsaturated market of 1.5 billion potential customers opens up. Therefore, there seems to be a big opportunity for growth and investment.

Before one starts investing they should gain proper knowledge on the inner-workings of this market. Students should show more interest and study it, academics should do more research, companies should invest more in market and academic research.
